A child under threat

Pharaoh oppressed the Children of Israel. Musa’s mother was inspired to place him in the river; his sister followed. He was returned to his mother for nursing. Neither woman is named in the passage.

Leaving Egypt

After a fatal intervention in a fight, Musa sought forgiveness. Warned of a plot against him, he left in fear and prayed for guidance. The Qur’an does not hide the difficult turning point.

Hospitality in Madyan

He helped two women water their flock and found shelter with their father. He accepted marriage to one daughter and a term of service. Neither the father nor the bride is named.

The call in the valley

On the journey with his household he saw a fire and was called in the sacred valley. Given signs, he was sent to Pharaoh; he asked for his brother Harun’s support.

Facing Pharaoh

Musa and Harun were commanded to speak gently. The contest with the magicians became a moment of recognition: they believed despite Pharaoh’s threats.

The sea and the covenant

The Children of Israel escaped by night and crossed the opened sea. Later Musa received the tablets, while his people’s worship of the calf brought a painful challenge to the community.

Learning with a servant of Allah

Surah al-Kahf describes Musa’s journey with a young companion to meet a servant given knowledge. Events involving a boat, a boy, and a wall teach the limits of immediate understanding. The servant is not named in these verses.

An invitation to the Holy Land

Musa reminded his people of Allah’s favour and urged them to enter the Holy Land. Their refusal led to the account of a period of wandering. The story shows that deliverance was followed by further choices.

Receiving the tablets

The Qur’an describes Musa’s appointed meeting, his request to see his Lord, and the giving of the tablets. The scene is presented as scripture, without depicting the unseen in the artwork.

A father named in hadith

The Qur’anic childhood passage leaves the father unnamed, but an authentic night-journey report calls Musa son of Imran. This man is kept distinct from the Imran in Maryam’s family.
