A call to Thamud

Salih called his people to worship Allah and seek forgiveness. Their skill in building homes and carving mountains did not remove their responsibility to act justly.

A sign with responsibilities

The she-camel was given as a sign. The people were warned not to harm her and were told about the sharing of water. The miracle came with a practical obligation.

Rejection and rescue

The camel was killed despite the warning. Salih announced a remaining interval; Allah saved him and the believers while judgement overtook the wrongdoers.

A plot that failed

Another passage describes nine men planning against Salih and his household. Their plot failed; the believers were saved. The household is mentioned without an individual family list.
