In old age he called quietly to his Lord, describing weakness and his wife’s inability to bear a child. He asked for a righteous heir and did not lose hope in prayer.
The angels announced Yahya while he prayed. He asked how the birth would be possible and received reassurance of Allah’s power. A sign involved a period without ordinary speech.
The Qur’an says Allah answered him, granted Yahya, and made his wife fit to bear. It praises their readiness for good deeds, prayer, and humility.
