THE LIFE & THE MESSAGE

A brief mention, an enduring lesson

Dhul-Kifl: patience and righteousness

01

Two brief Qur’anic mentions

Dhul-Kifl appears in two passages: one naming him with Ismail and Idris among the patient, and another with Ismail and Al-Yasa among the excellent. Mercy and righteousness are part of the first commendation. Those verses form the established foundation of this profile. They do not provide a childhood, named household, journey, or conversation from which a sequential life story could be constructed.

02

Identity is a question, not an extra fact

Scholars have discussed whether the brief wording identifies him as a prophet and how his identity should be understood. Commonly used lists of the 25 named prophets include him; this site follows that learning convention while explaining the qualification. Identifying him with Ezekiel or with a particular ruler adds material from later interpretation. Such a proposal should not silently become a parent-child connection to another Qur’anic figure.

03

A full profile can preserve a short record

The lesson in the recorded portrait is patience and righteous standing. A fuller treatment means explaining what the actual references say, giving the reader direct access to them, and separating the record from familiar additions. The family explorer includes Dhul-Kifl as a selectable figure from the start, but does not manufacture relatives for him. The absence of recorded names is not a statement that he had no family.

What the sources leave open

Scholars have discussed his identity and whether these references establish prophethood. Identifications with Ezekiel, a particular king, or a named lineage are not asserted here.

Moments in the account

Presented in a reading sequence. Undated episodes are not assigned invented dates.

1

Named among the patient

Dhul-Kifl appears with Ismail and Idris among those praised for patience. Allah admits them to mercy and identifies them among the righteous.

2

Named among the excellent

A second passage names him alongside Ismail and Al-Yasa, describing all as among the excellent. It gives no narrative of his household or travels.

3

Learning from a short account

The Qur’an’s brief references invite attention to steadfastness. A sparse record is a reason to read carefully, rather than to attach an elaborate unsourced biography.
